Understanding Reverse Air Baghouse Dust Collectors

How Reverse Air Baghouses Work

Reverse air baghouses are designed for large-scale industrial operations that require high-capacity dust collection with minimal system disruptions. Unlike pulse jet systems, which clean on-line, reverse air baghouses operate with off-line cleaning cycles, making them ideal for continuous-duty applications with steady dust loads.

Cleaning Process

4-Reverse Air Bags in service

1. Dust Collection

Dirty air enters the baghouse and flows into the filter bags, where dust accumulates on the inside surface.

2. Cleaning Cycle (Off-Line)

A reverse airflow pulse gently back-flushes dust from the inside of the bags. Simultaneously, mechanical flexing of the filter fabric aids in dust release.

3. Dust Discharge

Dislodged dust falls into the hopper below for collection and disposal.

4. Continuous Operation

While one section is being cleaned, other sections remain operational, ensuring efficient, uninterrupted performance.

Key Advantage:

Reverse air collectors operate at lower air-to-cloth ratios, reducing filter wear and extending filter life in high-dust environments.
