SDF® Technology

SDF Revolutionizes Woven Fabric

SDF (Surface Densified Filtration) is the most significant development in woven filter fabric since the invention of the loom. This proprietary technology improves and corrects the weave of a fabric, producing a superior filter media. SDF treated filters achieve greater flow capacity, retain a more permeable dust cake and maintain lower pressure drop. SDF fabric is rated with particulate capture efficiencies up to ten times greater than the rating of standard filter fabrics.

How Does SDF Filtration Treatment Work?

Though not visible to the naked eye, there are minor inconsistencies in both yarn spacing and uniformity of the texturized surface of woven fabrics. These minor inconsistencies can result in blinding or eventual bleeding of your filters. Surface densification works by uniformly aligning the weave of the fabric and densifying the texturized fibers. SDF woven filter fabric technology transforms and strengthens woven fabric into an outstanding filtration media.

Greater Flow Capabilities Achieved With SDF Fabric Treatment

SDF fabric treatment technology makes the openings in the fabric uniform over the entire surface of the filter. Because of the uniform flow velocity, pressure drops remain low. By eliminating high pressure differential, particles do not become embedded into the fabric and are easily released during the cleaning cycles. The SDF treated filtration surface creates a more porous and consistent dust cake that results in greater capture efficiencies.

SDF treated fabrics demonstrate exceptional performance. The only woven fabrics that exhibit higher efficiencies are those with expanded PTFE membranes (such as our Mikrotex® membrane).

Longer Filter Life

While surface densification is a mechanical process, SDF treated fabric is actually strengthened by the process. By achieving weave uniformity, fabrics have greater resistance to tears, stretching, and abrasion holes. SDF filters can offer your filtration application lower pressure drop and greater wear capacity that will result in a longer filter life.

This revolutionary new fabric is engineered for use in shaker, reverse air, and pulse-jet dust collectors.

SDF fabric treatment technology is also available for liquid filtration applications.
